Motor vehicle accidents on the rise during holidays | Whitlock Law, LLC

The holiday season brings an increase in truck and delivery traffic on roads that are already congested. The increased traffic increases the likelihood of motor vehicle accidents in Maryland. An early morning crash involving a car and a delivery truck resulted in the deaths of two people and serious injuries to another. The accident happened on a recent Saturday morning.

The crash involved a 1997 Toyota Camry and Peapod delivery truck, and happened in Adelphi. The Camry was in the process of making a left-hand turn when it was hit by the delivery truck. There were three people in the Camry.

Emergency responders were called to the scene at about 5:45 a.m. where they found that the three occupants of the Camry, all unconscious, were trapped inside of the vehicle. After being freed from the vehicle, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the other two were transported to an area hospital. One of the two passengers died as a result of her injuries, and the other was in critical condition. The driver of the truck was uninjured. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
